Daniel is a third generation pig farmer on their family farm at Freeling in the Barossa Valley, and knew from a young age that agriculture was his calling.
Daniel attended Faith Lutheran College in Tanunda, and whilst successful academically, was always more at home with the land. Upon leaving Faith, Daniel studied at TAFE to complete a Certificate 3 in On Farm Training. This study gave him valuable knowledge and experience in all areas of farming, and the confidence to become more involved in the family farming enterprise.
With his father and uncle, Daniel increased numbers within the existing piggery to diversify further their farming operations.
In 2004 Damien joined the family farm, and Daniel and Damien, created a formal partnership, which would allow them to work together on a variety of agricultural endeavours, and would become the beginnings of SchuAm Pork.
As well as producing their award winning pork product, Daniel and Damien grow wheat barley, peas, beans, chickpeas, and export Hay on their land in South Australia.
Daniel is a key committee member of YiAg – Barossa Young People in Ag.
Daniel and his wife Heidi, live in the beautiful Barossa Valley with their 3 young boys, Billy, Freddy and Jimmy.
